PROGRAMS & CLASSES - BEGINNING LATIN DANCE

We'll cover salsa, meringue, mambo, cumbia, and bachata.
Couples and individuals are welcome. Instruction will focus on individual footwork, but couples are welcome to try out the steps in pairs. The instruction style is informal with an emphasis on individual attention.
Goals for the 4-week class include the following:
- Instructors will share basic background information for each dance style.
- Students will develop good form in the basic steps for several styles of Latin dance.
- Students will learn to recognize what dance style is appropriate for particular Latin rhythms.
- Instructors will share basic tips about appropriate leading and following techniques.
- Instructors will share tips about appropriate dress and etiquette, depending on the geographic location and dance style.
- Students will become familiar enough with basic steps to develop muscle memory, enabling students to go on to intermediate classes with confidence.
